Following the recent UK Government announcment and implementation of new lockdown restrictions between 5th January 2021 – 15th February 2021 (dates subject to review), we are allowing all of our team members some additional time away from the office and remote working arrangements in order to enable our members, particularly those with school aged children, to make any necessary home schooling arrangements and required adjustments following the Government’s decision to implement tighter restrictions and close primary and secondary schools in both England and Wales (i.e. this is where we have team members based).
As a result and hopefully for a short period of time, we will be operating at a reduced capacity and capability over the next few days/weeks, so we would like to apologies in advance if we are slow to respond to any enquiries or requests, but we would like to stress that we remain OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
We are continually monitoring the situation and latest Government guidence (latest information available here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home), as it is extremely important that both our team and customers keep safe and are also supported during these uncertain times.

End of year review, Dec 2020.
2020 has certainly been a very strange year for us all and we suspect that we’re not the only ones who will be looking forward to seeing what 2021 has in store. Hopefully it cannot be any worse!
This year as you will know has been very challenging, not only as a result of Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting closures of venues and lack of sporting events and even training opportunities; but also due to the uncertainty resulting from the end of the Brexit transition period (yep at the time of writing this we still don’t know whats going to happen and what we need to do…..).
In addition within the team, one of our key Directors suffered a reoccurance of serious illness, which has now resulted in Steve taking sometime out to undergo specialist treatment, but whom we hope will be able to make a speedy recover and once again rejoin the team in early 2021. Life really is all about timing, not just electronic, and we cannot stress the importance of looking after your own health and seeking support and advice at the earliest opportuinities.
During the year and facing these challenges, we at SET have had to undertake some important decisions and implemented changes, which we hope you will understand, in order to help shape and prepare our business for the future. Most importantly, we hope these changes will enable us to continue to be able to provide the highest quality, most durable and cost effective products and solutions that will help our customers deliver success and hopefully future champions!
Firstly, following some analysis of our suppliers and partners, their product offerings, developments occuring in the market place, previous sales and also crucially the issues experienced by our customers, we have decided to reshape some of our existing business relations and update the products that we offer from certain partners and suppliers. Quality is particularly important to us, and we have high expectations from our suppliers to manufacturer and provide the leading products and services they provide, espically as we know that when your equipment is not working as well as it should this will be causing you and your operators unnecessary stress and disappointment by impacting the overall running of your events and athlete experiences.
In addition, and something that we are excited about for the future, we also took the opportunity established a small team of engineers and developers to undertake research, design work and even production of our very own electronic devices. We have also established new relationships with UK based companies to source parts and expertise, which will hopefully mean that any purchases from us will not support our business, but also British based companies and jobs within our supply chain.
That said, despite the above changes we do intend to continue to work with our international partners, who we believe can provide some of the best products on the market, but we also realise that we also need to adapt and undertake these important changes in order to be able to create future successes.

As the festive season approaches we wanted to let you know that our offices will be closed from 5pm on Friday the 18th December 2020 and not reopening until 8.30am on Monday 4th January 2021.
During this time we are encouraging all of our staff to log off and take some well earned time out to enjoy the festive season with their families and/or friends (in both a safe manner and according to government guidelines!!).
However we also know that our team are very customer focused and may still access their emails and phones from time to time in the event of any customer issues or order queries; so we therefore please ask if you do happen to contact us during our official fesitive break, if you can please bear with the team as they may take a little longer to respond.

The Sports Electronic Timing Ltd team
Sports Electronic Timing are pleased to announce Carmarthen Leisure Centre as a new customer for our ALGE-TIMING TP1890C swimming timing pads.
Replacing the existing pads, our ALGE-TIMING equipment is fully compatible with the existing Daktronics timing system (as well as it would be with Omega and Colorado systems) and which will enable the pool to continue to host successful events and galas, and without the need of incurring the significant expense of having to replace a whole system.
Unfortunately in these challenging times, the facility itself has actually been converted into one of the field hospital sites in Wales to help provide additional hospital beds required by the NHS to treat patients during the coronavirus outbreak.
Once back up and running as a leisure centre, the team at SET will be onsite to help the facility test out and commission their equipment.
As the unprecedented events of the COVID-19 pandemic cause uncertainty for on our supply chain, Sports Electronic Timing are actively monitoring developments of the outbreak and we are taking steps to support the health and safety of our team members and customers.
At the current time, we are trying to maintain our business as usual activities with orders continuing to be taken and delivered, subject to approval from customers.
Our team members have been asked to work from home, with all all international and domestic travel for team members with the exception of essential business needs. In addition colleagies will only attend our office/workshop if a critical business activity is required.
We are asking everyone to adhere to the UK Government’s advice in regards to regular and consistent hand washing, use of hand sanitizer and disinfecting spray/ wipes and increased cleaning. We have also taken steps to enable team members who do not feel well to stay home, recover, and avoid interacting with other team members and customers.
In regards to our customers and active orders; we have a dedicated, cross-functional team tasked with monitoring the situation, managing internal and external communications, and ensuring that we are able to continue supporting our customers and partners as the situation develops.
We continue to coordinate with our partners, sub-contractors, distributors, vendors, and other suppliers to ensure a robust supply chain with a ready supply of the necessary materials and a trained workforce for your business needs.
For example currently UPS are advising that there are delivery and collections restrictions in place in certain parts of Italy and Austria, however at this time there commercial deliveries continue to undertaken. This situation is being actively monitored and customers will be advised of any issues or delays.
We are pleased to announce the further expansion of our timing network, with Haverfordwest Leisure Centre recently selecting new swimming touchpads from us for use with their existing Daktronics OmniSport timing system and as a replacement after a number of their ageing pads had failed.
With four integrated and replaceable tapeswitches, the new touchpads are highly reliable, both from capturing times and also life from a life span perspectives, and should there ever be an issue with the touchpad its possible to fix and replace one or more tapeswitches (unlike some of our rivals equipment).

We are pleased to announce that Torfaen Dolphins have selected Sports Electronic Timing Ltd to provide a replacement timing system, swimming touchpads and Led video display for their existing, dated and non working Daktronics equipment.

Working to a tight budget, we were able to supply 7 new ALGE-TIMING touchpads, 7 new ALGE-TIMING backup buttons, a new SST timing system with supporting on deck harness, PC and printer. In addition we were also able to provide a small but impressive Unilumin LED videowall solution that will enable the the club to potentially generate additional revenue from sponsors, whilst also showing additional information and results not possible on the previous numeric led display.

We are pleased to announce our first UK customer, but not the UK’s first, for the Superior Swim Timing (SST) system.
Upgrading from an Omega ARES21 system, Abertilery Pirhnas Swim Club have selected our SST timing system.
As the club’s existing timing pads and buttons are fully operational, we are able to simply able to provide them with a new timing system (much smaller box than before), a new PC and harness with new plugs/connectors.
The SST has been developed also work with Colorado and Daktronics timing harnesses too, so if you need to upgrade you system but do not want the expense of replacing other components (including Timing Pads, buttons and even numeric scoreboards) please get in touch.
